The laptop is for SPARES OR REPAIR because although the laptop accepts power from the a/c adaptor, when the power button is pressed the DVD drive spins but there is no display and when the hard drive was installed there was no sign of the drive trying to boot.

The hard drive has been removed as the data on it was still accessible and was required.

The laptop has a battery and before this fault, would hold a charge. As mentioned above the laptop does accept the power as the power light turns on when the a/c adaptor is plugged in.
